As the first part of nuclear talks in Lausanne, Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi and US Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz held talks in the presence of Iranian deputy ministers and American undersecretaries at 14:00 local time (16:30 Tehran time) in Lausanne yesterday, March 15.
Ali-Akbar Salehi and Ernest Moniz also held separate talks on Sunday.
US Secretary of State John Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif had been due to meet in Lausanne, Switzerland, later on Sunday to try to break the logjam ahead of a crucial round of talks between Iran and E3/EU3. The meeting, however, was postponed to Monday morning due to late arrival of John Kerry in the city.
Meanwhile, as another part of nuclear talks, Mohammad Javad Zarif is scheduled to go to Brussels to hold negotiations with EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini along with his French, German and British counterparts on Monday.
Iran and the 5+1 have held nuclear talks in an effort to bridge their differences and facilitate a comprehensive accord ahead of a July 1 deadline.
